I can't speak highly enough about the staff at Northcrest. The administration provides you with comfort, and upmost professionalism. The RN's, CNA's, food service, laundry- they all do the best for the residents. They are kind and treat them like family. Both my parents had to do skilled rehab at Northcrest, and I was a huge mess- feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and emotional in general. The process to get them in Northcrest went without a hitch. Within 10 minutes of being there, I knew my parents were going to be taken care of. I walked out crying- because I was so thankful for the amazing staff.
Housekeeping is done daily- trash taken out, laundry cleaned. The kitchen staff provide the best food and greet each resident when coming to the dining area.
The rooms are tidy, and so well maintained.
The STAFF- I can't tell you how amazing they are.
We would 100% recommend it to anyone!

Our father has been at Northcrest for 6 months now, first for rehab, then as a long-term resident. We felt welcomed, pampered even, from his first day. Every staffer we've met has taken time to listen to requests/suggestions, then acted on them right away. He has gone from sitting in the dark in his former independent apartment, to joining in all sorts of new activities (much to our surprise!). Staff work to find creative ways to help him stay healthy--even when some days he doesn't want to put in the work--they make it so fun, it's hard for him to resist. A special thanks to the front office for helping us through the daunting process of getting Medicaid approved.

I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing caregivers and staff at Northcrest Living Center for the love and care you showed my father Vicente Escobar.
From the very beginning, you treated him with kindness, dignity, and respect. You comforted him through the hard days and celebrated the small victories along the way. Your compassion, patience, and dedication brought peace to both him and our family.
It takes a truly special kind of heart to do what you do every day—to care for others as if they were your own family. Thank you for being there, for your gentle words, and for the comfort you gave in ways you may not even realize. Till his last day.
We will always remember your kindness and the difference you made in my father’s life—and in ours. The Escobar Family

We had a great experience at Northcrest when my mom broke her leg and had to go to a skilled care facility! The management was very thorough, the food was excellent, they had plenty of staff that showed they are caring, comforting and responsive to our needs. The physical therapy team was overly helpful with getting her through therapy and getting her physically able to return home. It is clean and easy to get around. The size of the facility was perfect for our family and visitors. It has that hometown feeling that you don’t get in large facilities! We want to say thank you to all the staff for everything they did for us. Keep doing a great job!

Dearest Staff of Northcrest:
We, the family of Lillian and James Maack want to thank you for everything you did and said to make Mom and Dad's final years comfortable and happy. Being named Valentine King and Queen was a highlight of their stay. We appreciate the way you made their family welcome by letting us have family events there and letting us bake cakes for their birthdays. As you could tell, family was important to them and we appreciate your indulging us.
You gave Mom a sense of purpose by listening to her when she expressed being bored and let her fold napkins, towels, and bibs. If she had had her way, she would have helped fold all the laundry. Of course, they had to be folded 'correctly'. If we were visiting and helped with the task, we were told if they were not folded 'correctly'--her way. She had been known to refold things 'correctly'.
You treated Dad with dignity as he progressed in his dementia. He had a brilliant mind before the disease and even though he didn't talk much as the end, he still acknowledged the staff with a growl. Thank you for trying to help Mom understand the effects of dementia and talking to her when she felt totally out of control, thinking he should just do as she said. It is sad to watch the one you love and depended upon become someone else. She missed that other person.
You included Mom and Dad in activities. Before Northcrest, Mom did not feel like she could leave Dad alone. Thank you for letting her know you would keep an eye on him and give her a break. She so enjoyed going to bingo. If we were visiting at bingo time, the visit was over because it was time to go 'win her three games'. She marveled at the crafts that were made and proudly displayed her projects. She glowed when you praised her handiwork and crocheting. Her greatest pleasure was in doing for other. It was hard for her to become a recipient of someone doing for her.
Thank you for fixing things she would eat and for bringing her try to her room on the days she wanted to eat in her room. We are so glad Randy learned how to make milk toast 'correctly'.
Thank you for filling her bird feeder, hanging pictures, fixing her tv, joking with her. I remember one visit when Jordan came in and said he was were to bug her. Without missing a beat, she said the exterminator had been there and must have missed him.
Thank you for talking to her and sometimes being firm with her when she got so upset about feeding and caring for Dad. Family would not have had that success. Mom struggled with her lack of control over the natural progression of life.
I could mention so many more instances of your kindness to Mom and Dad. This letter would go on for pages. Those things are not listed, but nonetheless, they are acknowledged and appreciated.
So many times when someone is in the hospital and they say they want to go home, it is to the home they had because or the home they grew up in. The last time Mom was in the hospital, she told the hospital staff she wanted to go home...home to Northcrest. You were all instrumental in helping her to feel at home. After Dad died,we were concerned that she would be alone. She said she wanted to go back to Northcrest because there would be people there who cared about her. And you did, I saw it many times, walking or pushing her down the hall, any number of you would say hi to her, give her a hug or pat her on the shoulder. She was stoic around her family and assured us she was 'fine'. We learned later that she was sad, but it from us. She was stoic around her family. Thank you for stopping in, checking on her, listening to her and sitting with her she was sad...even on your own time. Thank you for showing her Snapchat photos and lifting her spirits.
These qualities of love and compassion are not in the job description, but are so evident in the employees at Northcrest. It doesn't matter if you are full time, part time, maintenance, kitchen, activities, cleaning, laundry, nurses, CNA's, support staff of the owner, you all contribute to making Northcrest HOME for the residents. You should be proud of yourselves that you do make a difference in their lives. You do not choose your career for the money but for the good you can do for others. Bless you all for that.
Hugs and love on behalf of the families of Jim(Adequate Maack with the big fat feet) and Lillian Maack,
Janet Petersen

Steve and Everybody,
Not enough space here to mention all the staff that befriended mom (and me!). One of the nurses said it right...'Northcrest is a family'. A professional and fun family. Thank you to each one of you! My plan is to continue Country Marvin(maybe not until February) So...you can't get rid of me can you! :) Tell everyone how much I appreciate them.

To the nurses & staff at Northcrest Living Center,
I just wanted to take the opportunity to express my thanks for the care provided to my grandparents, Albert & Mary Voss, in the final years of their lives. During each and every visit I made, the staff exhibited professionalism and genuine concern for the health and well being for the residents including my grandparents. You truly understand the "care" in healthcare.
Thank you so much,

As a social worker for the public, I was in numerous facilities across the state of Iowa, and want to say that I have been impressed by all the staff here at the Living Center. All of us--Luella's family and friends-- are so very thankful for the care and compassion she received. And also that my father received during his short time there.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart--know that your actions and deeds are not unnoticed. Thank you!
